RNO Concertmaster Alexei Bruni performs a chamber concert with student musicians of the Festival Napa Valley Blackburn Music Academy

RNO Musical Ambassadors in Napa

This summer, eight RNO musicians were resident at Festival Napa Valley, acting as both teachers and performers, but all the while serving as musical ambassadors.

The nine musicians were: Alexei Bruni, violin; Maxim Rubtsov, flute; Andrey Rubtsov, oboe and conductor (and RNO alum); Tatiana Porshneva, violin; Ekaterina Tsareva, violin; Olesya Gavrikova, cello; Gennady Krutikov, double bass; Alexey Serov, French horn.

All served as teachers at the Festival Napa Valley Blackburn Music Academy, offering master classes to advanced young students, and leading chamber ensembles, which together offered a dozen free public concerts to the Napa community.

Some of the musicians also performed in several of the festival's classical concerts. Most notably, they performed a free public concert of John Corigliano's Pied Piper Fantasy, arranged for a chamber orchestra by Andrey Rubtsov. A video of the full performance is linked below.
